A great place to find new ideas for attractions to go see in the US is at a website called Roadside America. It is by far one of my favorite sites when it comes to finding off the beaten path ideas for unique places to see whenever myself and the family go on a road trip. Which if your like us than most of you are doing a lot more road trip travels lately as the overall cost of going on vacation is just not in the family budget lately.
One of the more appealing ideas that I have seen on their site regarding unique attractions to see is a museum in Washington DC. Now I know what your thinking when you hear the word museum and Washington DC, your thinking like me of the Smithsonian or one of the other federally funded national museums that cover the whole DC area. Well I will be honest in saying that I thought the very same thing until I read a little further.
The name of this museum is called the International Spy Museum and unlike all the federally funded museums the I. Spy museum is privately run and it will cost you some dollars to get your spy experience on. If you are a fan of the old TV shows like Get Smart, iSpy or the spy thrillers in the movies like James Bond than this I.Spy museum looks to be the place for you.
I was so intrigued by the article that I just had to go check out the actual website for the International Spy Museum. Something that was not mentioned in the article that sounded like a must do experience is that the I. Spy museum is now offering a walking spy tour of Washington DC that sends you off as a “spy” yourself armed with a GPS and some headphones to go off on your mission that walks you thru DC looking for hidden clues and signals. Plus you still have the actual International Spy museum to tour as well. All in all it sounds like a cool attraction that is a must see for all those spy thriller fans out there, count me in I will be checking it out
